Welcome to EFN! We offer free UNIX/Linux shell accounts, giving you access to a personal shell on a Unix-based server (Linux, BSD, Solaris) that you can connect to via SSH.
This is an ideal space for those who want to dive deeper into UNIX/Linux, programming, networking, security, or connect with others who share these interests. Many users take advantage of their shell accounts to run an always-online IRC client (using screen/tmux and irssi/BitchX/znc), practice programming in languages like Go, Perl, PHP, Ruby, and Bash, or even host a personal webpage.
Please note, however, that this is a hobby project, not a professionally hosted service. It’s completely free, but there are no guarantees regarding uptime, availability, quality of service, or warranty.

- Disallowed apps: Any type of network sniffers or scanners (e.g., Nmap, Nessus), trojans, backdoors, brute-force tools, intrusion or exploitation tools, cracking/hacking utilities, proxy services, or tunneling mechanisms (such as SSH, TCP, or UDP tunneling). This also includes spam tools, bulk email senders, high-bandwidth usage tools, web scrapers, crawlers, and any other software considered malicious or potentially harmful. Also AI and other CPU intensive tools.
